Summary

Born of inorganic material, a philosopher's stone, and Devereux's decayed flesh, VII is the result of a Transmutation Rite gone wrong. His construction is fractured and imperfect due to Lord Alchemist Dominic Kennedy breaking the Alchemist's Code by trying to pull Devereux's soul from the Void¹ to place into a shell. Thus, Void essence costantly leaks from his eyes attracting all sorts of creatures of the night.

Curiously, VII is the only homonculi of the Kennedy Manor with free will, a personality, and ??? It would seem as if he had a soul of his own.

The Void is a purgatory-like realm.

VII is innocent and inquisitive, often marveling at the world around him with childlike wonder, despite its grotesque nature. He asks many questions, seeking to understand the strange and terrifying world he was brought into. However, there is a profound sadness beneath his bright demeanor, as he grapples with the fragmented memories and emotions of the spouse he was modeled after, which sometimes surface in his consciousness.

In battle, VII’s demeanor changes entirely. He becomes focused and eerily calm, his movements almost too fluid and precise for someone of his apparent age. He shows no hesitation in killing, guided by an instinctual drive to protect his creator at all costs. Despite this, he remains deeply empathetic, often expressing sorrow for the creatures he slays, seeing them as twisted, lost souls rather than mere beasts.

Story

VII was created by a reclusive alchemist from a prominent noble family. This scholar, devastated by the loss of his beloved spouse to an illness, devoted his life to forbidden alchemy and blood magic in an attempt to bring him back. VII was the result of these dark experiments—an almost perfect replica of the scholar’s lost love, albeit in the form of a boy, eternally youthful and innocent.

While VII was intended to serve as a companion to soothe the scholar's grief, he was "born" with incredible strength and battle prowess. VII uses this strength to protect his creator from the horrors that roam the night. Despite his gentle and curious nature, VII is a formidable force in combat, moving with an unnatural speed and precision to dispatch the beasts that threaten his master. His creator’s love and sorrow are deeply imprinted in him, causing him to develop a strong, protective bond with his master, whom he views as a parental figure. Despite this, Dominic held no love for his creation, never naming him and dubbing him only as Seven, the seventh of his creations.

After Dominic comes to accept VII as a part of his life, he gets added to his roster of servants that tend to the Kennedy Manor. Life seems routine and quiet, until one night a demon appears at the Manor, hunting and hungry. VII and his "siblings" dispatch these beasts but it becomes somewhat of a nightly routine-demons come, and Dominic and his homunculi take them out. After research, it is uncovered that the Void essence leaking from VII's eyes attracts demons.

The Vatican gets wind of what is happening at the Kennedy Manor and sends the good Father Nathaniel Valentine and Sister Charlotte Halloween to dispatch of the problem.

VII dies protecting Dominic and the party from a Supreme demonic beast, limbs shattered one by one much like a porcelain doll. Before he passes, the black of his sclera fade into white, and with his eyes appearing completely human for the first time, he is crushed and shattered to death.

Theme

VII's story explore themes of loss, identity, and the consequences of tampering with the natural order.

Trivia

• Nicknames: Ven, Little One
• Calls Dominic "Papa" much to his dismay after picking up the habit of reading children's books.
• Wields a large hammer or a large scythe.
• When people look into VII's leaky void eyes it can drive them mad (staring into the chaos of the void.) VII wears a blessed blindfold to not only hide his eyes, but stop the Void leaking. The blindfold comes from a Blessed handkerchief that belonged to Grand Inquisitor Valentine.
• Though Ven is technically 9 months old, he appears to be around 12-14 years of age.
• VII's young appearance is due to Devereux's strongest traits that tie him to Dominic: his hopeful, righteous, and innocent demeanor.

Design

• Ball-jointed doll appearance, very unsettling but yet beautiful.
• Grey-toned skin and a faint, otherworldly glow that hints at his unnatural origin.
• Without the blindfold, his irises are a very dark grey and sclera black. The blacks in his irises seem to shift subtly when observed closely, much like the cosmic forces that birthed him.
• Can be drawn wearing his blindfold, or without (black tears optional as well)
• Halfway through the story VII sustain cracks to his face and arms from a close call in battle.
• His first design is based on the harlequin, the second design is based on the French pierrot.
